Exeter University Students’ Guild – Capital Development Project, Food Development, Concept Strategy

Food and drink sales in the Guild’s pub – The Ram were declining year on year. In addition the new multi million pound Forum would seriously affect the Guild’s sales and could potentially make the Ram financially unviable.

Brief

  • Full qualitative and quantitative student and market research
  • Business plan, financial planning, ROI modelling for the Trustee Board and to secure funding from the University
  • Develop the concept and food strategies

  • Project management support throughout RIBA Stage 5

Results

 The ability of Nina to get the absolute measure of our organisation so quickly and comprehensively has been outstanding. This meant that the original business plan delivered to our Trustee board was completely spot on and really cut to the heart of the issues and opportunities and as a result funding was unanimously approved. After approval, Nina managed the design and build tender and project managed our two developments as well as working with our teams to develop the marketing strategy. We have every confidence in Nina and her ability to deliver two extremely profitable commercial outlets for the Guild, and would highly recommend her to all Students’ Unions.”

Since opening in September 2011, like for like food sales have increased by 99%.
