“Nina has worked with Kent Union on a number of projects across the last 10 years, however I commissioned Nina in 2014 to conduct a review of our retail, catering and licensed trade services. The research and review was comprehensive and led to a number of quick wins and development of our first Catering Strategy. The research also played a significant part in the development of a business plan for a new Student Hub development and £5m investment on our satellite campus in Medway. The Medway campus is a historic naval barracks and the old swimming pool and skittles alley have been converted in to a Student Hub with café, bar, social space, activity space, student union offices and advice centre.
Nina supported my team to develop the food and beverage offer and was a critical interface between suppliers and the main contractor. Her expertise and knowledge has played a significant part in the success of the Student Hub and Deep End Bar and its popularity with students is borne out by the growth we are achieving since opening: total revenues were 13% ahead of our original budget. Bar revenues against last year are 95% ahead with food revenues 216% favourable.”
