The SU Bath – Commercial Services Review.

The SU Bath – Commercial Services Review.

Brief:

During and post lockdown student engagement across The SU had fallen. This had been particularly noticeable in the Bars & Events area, where the dwindling numbers at the large club nights posed a huge risk to The SU. As result of these concerns The SU recognised that it needed to review its daytime and evening offers along with its Marketing activities to ensure that the students’ union met the needs of a post-covid and changing membership.

The SU was keen to come away from this exercise with a real and honest reflection of the current social space and services, their impact on students at Bath University, and some support for the team on how the space and services can be developed to improve engagement.

This project was completed in partnership with Jan Sowa from Greenhouse.

Results:

“The research (external & internal) and the insights Nina & Co and Greenhouse provided has really helped us move forward in the Commercial & Marketing areas. The comprehensive report enabled us to identify short, medium and long term goals, many of which we have already actioned. Having external people come in and review your service, many aspects of which, have been the same for a number of years, has proved invaluable in motivating and empowering managers to make much needed changes. Post covid, a sensitive approach was required which was understood by Nina and Jan. As soon as they started working with managers, who may have first been nervous about consultants coming in, there was a tangible change in energy and motivation to make changes and understand what members were telling us. Throughout the research phase and in follow ups Nina and Jan have been very supportive and have gone that extra mile to ensure we were benefitting from their insights and feedback.
