University for the Creative Arts Students’ Union – Commercial Services Review.
Brief:
Over the past two years there have been numerous changes and commercial developments at UCASU. More recently, the Union undertook a full Organisational Health Assessment last summer, and to ensure UCASU delivered the recommendations made in this assessment, the newly appointed Change Director commissioned a full commercial services review. As part of the review, the Union wished to explore all the current commercial outlets and commercial staff structure. UCASU was keen to come away from this exercise with a real and honest reflection of the current commercial spaces, whether it should continue, cease, or adapt trading. It also wanted to address the following key issues:
– Financial positioning of the commercial spaces.
– Link with wider Union plans
– Feasibility of the spaces
– Logistics and operations of the spaces
This project was completed in partnership with Jan Sowa from Greenhouse.
Results:
“The commercial review report for UCASU is fantastic. It offers a comprehensive and insightful analysis of the Students’ Union’s operations and demonstrates a clear understanding of the unique challenges faced by a multi-campus union in the creative arts sector. The recommendations are both practical and innovative, striking a balance between immediate improvements and long-term strategic goals.
The report’s thorough analysis, coupled with its attention to student feedback, provides a solid foundation for decision-making. It’s clear that this document will be an invaluable resource as UCASU navigates its turnaround process and plans for a sustainable future!”
Andy Morwood, Change Director, UCASU.
